Frequently Asked Questions We are a Calgary roofing company that provides services for both commercial and residential roofing projects. At first glace a roof may look simple, but there's more to them than you'd think!
At Foothills Roofing we understand that roofing systems aren't something that most people know all about; so we've put together some of the commonly asked questions that we hear the most often from homeowners. If you don’t see the question that you wanted to ask; contact us at 403-669-6095 to speak with one of our roofing experts, and they'll be happy to provide you with any information that you need. |
"I think the recent hail may have damaged my roof, what should I do?"
Foothills Roofing is happy to come inspect your roof to let you know if the hail did any damage, and if needed we'll provide you with a quote for any work that needs to be done; free of charge. It is important to address even the faintest possibility that your roof has been damaged by hail; if hail damage goes untreated, any asphalt underneath could be exposed. This makes the roof very vulnerable, as outside forces can now affect the roof directly. Weather, excessive temperatures, and even wildlife could now rapidly wear down the roof and expose your home to worse elements. Above all, we want to preserve the structural integrity of your roof. The roof is a guard against so much of the outside world. If there is even the smallest hole, it could spell trouble for your roof later. By addressing the issue now your roof’s life can be extended up to 25 years
"Is replacing my leaking roof the only option I have?"
Not necessarily. There are many things that can cause a roofing system to develop a leak, and most of the time it's simple to repair after the to root cause of the leak is identified. A reputable roofing contractor should be able to inspect it and tell you more about the current state of your roofing system. Foothills Roofing can provide you with free roof report and estimate, contact us today to schedule an appointment.

"What kind of maintenance should I do before the snowy season?"
Though there are several areas that should be taken into consideration when it comes to having your roof assessed each year, here are a few key points to look at – especially heading into the cold, snowy months in Calgary:
Flashings: Water can run behind the flashing and drip into the home causing it to rust or rot. Caulking, properly applied, can be a good temporary repair.
Exposed Nails: It is important to seal nails properly. Over time, nails may become loose and allow water in. This can be problematic for flashings and vents as well.
Debris and Gutters: Clean gutters, eaves, and drainage systems, removing any branches, sticks, and other debris. If ice does build up in the valleys over the winter months, it could point to a ventilation problem.
